Enjoy Some.....Marvin
At the 1983 NBA All Star Game…..because his variety of "versions" of this, there are a lot of recordings of Marvin performing our national anthem. And each is different. My favorite.
The best film around of Marvin is from the 2008 DVD, with footage from the 1980 Montreux Jazz festival. I gotta get this DVD. And while my favorite song by Marvin was “What’s Going On”….this one ranks right up there.

I really like Marvin Gaye and loved the second clip. The first one, not as much. I'm one of those "purists" when it comes to the National Anthem. That said, I've always wished our anthem was "America the Beautiful" instead. I also like "My Country 'Tis of Thee", but realize it's a no go since it's the same melody as 'God Save the Queen'.
There's nothing like a Marvin Gaye song for atmosphere. Great post, Q! Blessings!
Hi Quid, a great post. I'm with Kelly in that I prefer the first clip to the second which I'm not too sure about at all.
