Would love it if she was still around... one of the few Eva Cassidy holiday performances. Merry Christmas, all! Hope you enjoyed the week in music.

Beautiful Christmas hymn
Really beautiful version of this Christmas hymn, from a CMA show last year. Jennifer Nettles may just have the best female voice in show business today.
Enjoy!

Don't laugh at me!
Don't laugh at me... I love this song. Couldn't find a live performance, but it's the great... Johnny Mathis!
Note: Google "Johnny Mathis and Josh Groban" for a video of them in a holiday duet on the Oprah show. It can't be copied, but it's a real thrill!

Gettin' down at Christmas
I'm convinced Elvis would have loved her version, audience appreciation and all!
Melissa was at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood.
And not to be undone... Kelly Clarkson sings the blues.. a genre she should stick with!

Remembering the Man in Black at Christmas
I'm pretty taken with his version... in that Johnny Cash fashion, it's different.
But you hear the voice, and immediately know who it is. Enjoy.

Song for Tuesday.... my favorite Christmas hymn, and an unbelievably young Jewel with that unbelievable voice. Enjoy.

Monday - Holiday Music!
Seeing Rockefeller Center at Christmas is almost as good as Bennett's rendition of this classic.... jazzy!

Tune In Friday - Christmas Music
I'll admit I like the Luther Vandross version of "Please Come Home for Christmas" the best of all. However, there is no good film available for Luther singing this classic. The song was written by old R & B favorite, Chuck Brown, in 1960. Brown hit the charts with it in 1961, and his version stayed on the charts until 1972. The Eagles resurrected it in 1978, but then R & B players such as Vandross and Aaron Neville reclaimed it. In 1992, Jon Bon Jovi put out a cheesy video of the song, starring Cindy Crawford as his love of the holiday.
I loved Bon Jovi's version, but decided to give it to you from a 1998 video for a TV special for the Special Olympics, at the Clinton White House. Jon's a little odd in a tux, but the quality of the music is the best...and a cameo by Whoopi with long dreds capped my choice!
Enjoy!

40 Years of Christmas Music
"The King" was making his comeback when this was recorded (I think it was '68 instead of '69, but close enough!)
An amazing rendition by the incomparable Ray Charles in 1979, 30 years ago!
Takes you back to the sweet, sweet sounds of Luther Vandross in 1989... sigh, all three of them gone now.
I was a big fan of this Celtic group, the Corrs (3 sisters and a brother) in 1999, musical tastes changing for what they were. They tackle the John Lennon anthem where he calls for an end to war at Christmastime.
And last, my favorite video of the holiday season this year... the old and the new as Stevie Wonder and India.Arie take an old song and make it new again in LA earlier this month.
Hope you enjoyed!
