Mamma, mamma mia!

Well, I loved it.

You might not.

Can you handle guys in swim fins dancing on a dock?

Meryl Streep in overalls?

Check out my review:

EXUBERANT! CHEESY! You gotta go to.... "Mamma Mia"

Lest we forget the song not done (when you read the lyrics, you'll know why they couldn't include it in a frothy, Greek wedding story!):

FERNANDO

Can you hear the drums, Fernando

I remember long ago, another starry night like this

In the firelight, Fernando

You were humming to yourself and softly strumming your guitar

I could hear the distant drums

And sounds of bugle calls were coming from the far

They were closer now, Fernando

Every hour, every minute seemed to last eternally

I was so afraid, Fernando

We were young and full of life and none of us prepared to die

And I'm not ashamed to say

The roar of guns and cannons almost made me cry

There was something in the air tonight

The stars were bright, Fernando

They were shining there for you and me

For liberty, Fernando

Though we never thought that we could lose

There's no regret

If I had to so the same againI would my friend, Fernando

If I had to do the same againI would my friend, Fernando

Now we're old and grey, Fernando

Since many years I haven't seen a rifle in your hand

Can you hear the drums, Fernando

Do you still recall the faithful night we crossed the Rio Grande

I can see it in your eyes

How proud you were to fight for freedom in this land

CHORUS

Loved your review! I might see it on DVD. That's one of those movies I need to be in the mood for.

I remember when I finally got in the mood to see Moulin Rouge and LOVED it!

I was an ABBA fan back in the day.

We did go see The Dark Knight and were blown away! What an awesome movie! Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was incredible. There was no trace of "Heath" in his portrayal.

I smell Oscar.

We do love ALL Super Hero movies around my house, as you know.

Wonderful review!

Why isn't that your fulltime career?? Seriously. Why?

I have not seen either movie, but I understand Heath Ledger's performance is Oscar winning, no doubt about it.

Great review, Quid. I loved it too. I saw the play a couple of years ago and my only objections to the movie are (1) although Meryl Streep was incredible (acting, singing and dancing were all over the top), she was really too old for the part; and (2) Pierce Brosnan's singing -- OMG, it was PAINFUL to listen to! But the show was, as you said, a whole lot of fun. Can't decide if I'll see Dark Knight or not. Never have been a big Batman fan, not in my adult life anyway.

Quid,

An excellent review! And I agree with your opinion about this film. I, too missed Fernando here which is, in my opinion, one of ABBA's most beautiful
songs.
