Ike

Friend Victor Bloom provides this link to really shocking pictures taken in the wake of Ike. So much has transpired politically, financially (and, in football!) in this country in the last 7 days, that we tend to forget that so many have suffered from this storm, and continue to suffer.

It's that single house left standing in Gilchrist that haunts me the most.

I've seen it a hundred times and heard the story behind it.

The couple rebuilt after Rita, rebuilt to withstand a cat 5 hurricane.

It, alone, survived. How tragically sad.

So much of the Gulf coast lies in ruins after the last few years of hurricane devastation.
