Milestone

U.S. forces have carried out combat operations in Iraq for more than seven years in Operation Iraqi Freedom launched by former President George W. Bush.

In the early hours of the morning of August 19th, Iraqi time, the last of the combat troops crossed the border line to Kuwait. 55,000 transitional training troops remain, to be drawn down to 50,000 by month end. Can it really be true?

The war in Iraq has gone on longer than the U.S. Civil War, the U.S. involvement in World War One, and longer than World War Two. Opinion polls show Americans are tired of nearly a decade of war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Hard to believe, isn't it?

I figure that when a country does not want us there, it is time to go. Let them sort out their own mess. Did you read that a judge is talking to hospitals to find one that will paralyze a man because he paralyzed another one in a fight? This is a brutal, brutal part of the world. Their ideas on 'justice' sicken me. It's time to come home and let them figure out how they're going to live.
